NH dodges bullet with voter ID law
11/14/2012
A fiercely contested presidential election. An open governor’s seat. Projections of near-record turnout. Same-day voter registration. A recent purge of roughly 100,000 voters who had to re- register at the polls prior to voting.
And last but not least, a new and controversial voter ID law, requiring all voters to show a photo ID or fill out an affidavit before getting a ballot.
That’s what New Hampshire election officials, city and town clerks, and poll workers were up against last week in preparing for a statewide election expected to attract more than 700,000 voters spread across the state’s 234 cities and towns.
