Virginia's effort get the word out about its new voter ID requirement appears to have paid off, as just a handful of voters statewide cast provisional ballots without identification, and few of the special ballots were cast locally.
According to information from area registrars and the State Board of Elections, less than 20 provisional ballots were cast locally by voters without identification, and many showed up with valid ID before the Nov. 9 deadline.
"Luckily everyone in Poquoson brought the right ID," Poquoson Registrar Tammi Pinckney said.
